The game map is very tiny, and cannot be randomly generated or seed generated, which greatly reduces replay-ability of the game. The scenario of starting out in a cave-system or underground until Atmosphere is achieved, seems more plausible, playable and enjoyable to me. I think Planet Crafter at some point underwent a MAJOR 'rewrite' which clearly has made it inconsistent in so many ways (I can cite more than 50 inconsistencies)! It´s more for Aquamen than for Les Strouds xD Just not my cup of early access "survival" tea. And it was not that well programmed and polished at that time, had a lot of bugs and logic failures. Maybe because you are under water in the darkness 99% of the time. Maybe thats why i am simply not disppointed anymore, knowing anyway that i never will get the survival game that is worth the term survival for me. I knew from playing the demo that it isn´t really a survival game for me (like all the other so called survival games out there) but a chill building and crafting game with the need to drink, eat and breathe from time to time. Maybe thats why i can have fun with Planet Crafter now. I simply was a believer and hoped for at least one real survival game to be created and bought everything to only be disappointed again and again. I rather dream of a Les Stroud or Naked and Afraid like gameplay when i read and hear the term survival but back at that time i was stupid enough to buy everything that was just tagged with the, imho, missleading term survival in such games. Not what i understand under the term survival. I have higher demands of a well made survival game. Ok, it is one of the best games you ever played, good for you. You're playing Subnautica wrong if you think it's a '.sea creature hunting game' where crafting is secondary. Subnautica is one of the best games I've ever played. So this will not become a Subnautica on land or something else, it is supposed to stay it's own Game.Īnother difference is that you have limited resources only resolved by occasional meteor strikes and your T2 ore extractors in strategic locations. You are the one making it alive after all).Īnd from what I get from the FAQ/Roadmap, that's on purpose. There are no jump scares trying to eat you alive (it's a dead planet. You can literally do whatever you want, and the TI still rises. For progress you are forced to face the dangers.Īnd here is the biggest difference: Planet Crafter is a chill game to the core. While you can chill in Subnautica once you reach a certain tech level, that won't advance you in the game at all. Yes, they are somewhat similar, but not in bad way at all. I played both Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero and massively enjoyed both Games.
